"For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight..." 1 Corinthians 3:19 (NIV).
I read an article in the Patriot-news today (Tuesday July 5, 2005) and it struck me how foolish we must look to God. The articles was about the probe that was just landed (or crashed into) a comet. The quote that really struck me as foolish was the reason that we spent so much money (billions I am sure) sending this probe to crash on a comet.
Here is is:
"A giant cloud of gas and dust collapsed to create Earth's solar system about 4.5 billion years ago, and comets formed from the leftover building blocks of the solar system."
So the scientists in on their great wisdom sent this probe to this comet to colide and capture information to see how our solar system was formed!
We have staving people in the world, we have poor, neglected and sick people in the world. We have enough to work out here on this planet and the scientists are spending billions to send a probe to colide with a comet to see how our solar system was formed.
What if, say, the solar system was not created by this collapsed cloud some 4.5 billion years ago? What if the comets are not leftover building blocks of the solar system? What if God created the solar system the way that He said He created it? Would we be wasting our money?
It is interesting how foolish man can be! |
