A Walk through Creation (Psalm and Genesis)
By David Burgess (HOST) @ 8:29 AM :: 416 Views ::

Being that we are part of the creation and living in it we can take it for granted.  Today, get out of your daily life, Take some time to go to a quite spot in Gods creation, this could be in the backyard of your house or in some park where you can sit with these verses and look at God’s creation.  (All verses below are taken from the American Standard Version – you can read this version in our Bible Reading section.)

Day 1: Psalm 24 and Genesis 1:1-5

1The earth is Jehovah's, and the fullness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein. 2For he hath founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the floods. 3Who shall ascend into the hill of Jehovah? And who shall stand in his holy place? 4He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; Who hath not lifted up his soul unto falsehood, And hath not sworn deceitfully. 5He shall receive a blessing from Jehovah, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6This is the generation of them that seek after him, That seek thy face, `even' Jacob. Selah 7Lift up your heads, O ye gates; And be ye lifted up, ye everlasting doors: And the King of glory will come in. 8Who is the King of glory? Jehovah strong and mighty, Jehovah mighty in battle. 9Lift up your heads, O ye gates; Yea, lift them up, ye everlasting doors: And the King of glory will come in. 10Who is this King of glory? Jehovah of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah

1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

God created the earth on the first day and created night and day.  It was good.  He created all out of nothing, He spoke it into being.  Who is He? Jehovah, the King of Glory, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Day 2: Psalm 146 and Genesis 1:6-8

1Praise ye Jehovah. Praise Jehovah, O my soul. 2While I live will I praise Jehovah: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. 3Put not your trust in princes, Nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; In that very day his thoughts perish. 5Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in Jehovah his God: 6Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that in them is; Who keepeth truth for ever; 7Who executeth justice for the oppressed; Who giveth food to the hungry. Jehovah looseth the prisoners; 8Jehovah openeth `the eyes of' the blind; Jehovah raiseth up them that are bowed down; Jehovah loveth the righteous; 9Jehovah preserveth the sojourners; He upholdeth the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

10Jehovah will reign for ever, Thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye Jehovah

6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

On the second day God created the heavens and  atmosphere and he is worthy of Praise.  Jehovah made the heaven, earth and sea and every thing in them.  He is worthy of Praise and we should continually praise him for what he has created and that he sustains it all.

Day 3: Psalm 95 and Genesis 1:9-13

1Oh come, let us sing unto Jehovah; Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; Let us make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. 3For Jehovah is a great God, And a great King above all gods. 4In his hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the mountains are his also. 5The sea is his, and he made it; And his hands formed the dry land.

6Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker: 7For he is our God, And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To-day, oh that ye would hear his voice! 8Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness; 9When your fathers tempted me, Proved me, and saw my work. 10Forty years long was I grieved with `that' generation, And said, It is a people that do err in their heart, And they have not known my ways: 11Wherefore I sware in my wrath, That they should not enter into my rest.

9And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, `and' fruit-trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: and it was so. 12And the earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after their kind: and God saw that it was good. 13And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.

On the third day God created the seas and the dry land and on the dry land he created all kinds of vegetation.  He created all of this for us to live on and for us to live in.  We are His and we should make a joyful noise to our God and Savior Jesus Christ for not only creating this entire world for us to live in but for saving us also.

Day 4: Psalm 148 and Genesis 1:14-19

1Praise ye Jehovah. Praise ye Jehovah from the heavens: Praise him in the heights. 2Praise ye him, all his angels: Praise ye him, all his host. 3Praise ye him, sun and moon: Praise him, all ye stars of light. 4Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, And ye waters that are above the heavens. 5Let them praise the name of Jehovah; For he commanded, and they were created.

6He hath also established them for ever and ever: He hath made a decree which shall not pass away. 7Praise Jehovah from the earth, Ye sea-monsters, and all deeps. 8Fire and hail, snow and vapor; Stormy wind, fulfilling his word; 9Mountains and all hills; Fruitful trees and all cedars; 10Beasts and all cattle; Creeping things and flying birds; 11Kings of the earth and all peoples; Princes and all judges of the earth; 12Both young men and virgins; Old men and children: 13Let them praise the name of Jehovah; For his name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and the heavens.

14And he hath lifted up the horn of his people, The praise of all his saints; Even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye Jehovah.

14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years: 15and let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16And God made the two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: `he made' the stars also. 17And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth, 18and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

On the forth day God created the Sun, Moon and Stars.  He created the seasons and the years.  He has made a great and complex creation for us to live in, one that is never boring.  Again, we should praise Him for his creation, he is worthy of our praise.

Day 5: Psalm 8 and Genesis 1:20-23

1O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens! 2Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength, Because of thine adversaries, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. 3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor.

6Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet: 7All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field, 8The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. 9O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth!

20And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

21And God created the great sea-monsters, and every living creature that moveth, wherewith the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind: and God saw that it was good. 22And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth. 23And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

On the fifth day God created all the creatures of the water and birds of the air.  He made them multiply over the earth.  Look around, look at His creation and praise His wonderful name!

Day 6: Psalm 139 and Genesis 1:24-31

1O Jehovah, thou hast searched me, and known `me'. 2Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising; Thou understandest my thought afar off. 3Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways. 4For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O Jehovah, thou knowest it altogether. 5Thou hast beset me behind and before, And laid thy hand upon me.

6`Such' knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it.7Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, thou art there. 9If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me.

11If I say, Surely the darkness shall overwhelm me, And the light about me shall be night; 12Even the darkness hideth not from thee, But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike `to thee'. 13For thou didst form my inward parts: Thou didst cover me in my mother's womb. 14I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well. 15My frame was not hidden from thee, When I was made in secret, `And' curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, `Even' the days that were ordained `for me', When as yet there was none of them. 17How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: When I awake, I am still with thee. 19Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men. 20For they speak against thee wickedly, And thine enemies take `thy name' in vain.

21Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? 22I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies. 23Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts; 24And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 140 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

24And God said, Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind: and it was so. 25And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the ground after its kind: and God saw that it was good.

26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food: 30and to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the heavens, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, `I have given' every green herb for food: and it was so.

31And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

On the sixth day God made the rest of the animal kingdom and He made man.  He gave man dominion over all of the earth, not to do what we want with it but as a steward of His creation we should work to protect it and use it as commanded.  God is good, his creation is good and you are made in His image.  You and I are different for all of the other animals; we are made in the Image of GOD.  Praise Him for his wonderfulness and kindness to all of us!

Day 7: Psalm 92 and Genesis 2:1-3

1It is a good thing to give thanks unto Jehovah, And to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High; 2To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, And thy faithfulness every night, 3With an instrument of ten strings, and with the psaltery; With a solemn sound upon the harp. 4For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. 5How great are thy works, O Jehovah! Thy thoughts are very deep.

6A brutish man knoweth not; Neither doth a fool understand this: 7When the wicked spring as the grass, And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; It is that they shall be destroyed for ever. 8But thou, O Jehovah, art on high for evermore. 9For, lo, thine enemies, O Jehovah, For, lo, thine enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. 10But my horn hast thou exalted like `the horn of' the wild-ox: I am anointed with fresh oil.

11Mine eye also hath seen `my desire' on mine enemies, Mine ears have heard `my desire' of the evil-doers that rise up against me. 12The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree: He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13They are planted in the house of Jehovah; They shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and green: 15To show that Jehovah is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

1And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made.

On the seventh day God rested.  This is a pattern for our own lives, we are to work hard for six days and rest on the seventh.  This rest, I believe is to be with family and to take time to be taught in the bible, reflect on what God has done and is doing and to rejuvenate.  I do not think that it means that we have to be legalistic and not do any work, because the very act of getting out of bed is in fact work…  God is a God of balance and not of legalistic ideals…  We should keep our world in balance and use this seventh day to reflect and be with God on a deeper level.

Right now, look around you, enjoy God’s creation and praise Him for all He has done for you.  Now on the seventh day, rest and get to know Him better!

"Praise you Lord for your goodness and for you faithfulness to each of us.  Thank you for your creation and all that you gave to us for our enjoyment and use.  Help us to always give you praise for what you have done and what you are doing and to use your creation as you would want us to.  Praise you for your continued protection on this planet in your universe.  You are so wonderful and worthy of all our praise!"
