A Walk through Creation (Psalm and Genesis) by David Burgess (HOST)
Created: 6/21/2006 at: 8:29 AM
Being that we are part of the creation and living in it we can take it for granted.  Today, get out of your daily life, Take some time to go to a quite spot in Gods creation, this could be in the backyard of your house or in some park where you can sit with these verses and look at God’s creation.  (All verses below are taken from the American Standard Version – you can read this version in our Bible Reading section.) Day 1: Psalm 24 and Genesis 1:1-5  1The earth is Jeho...
Psalm 77 - Calling out to God in Times of Trouble by David Burgess (HOST)

Psalm 77 This is a cool Psalm, one that has a lot of information (and inspiration) for us.  Not just because of what it says, but also for why it was said and what was not said.   This Psalm was by Asaph and was written when he was troubled.  Basically he was going through something that has weighed heavy on his heart and has kept him up all night long.  In verse 4 is states “You hold my eyelids open;”, he is so troubled he is loosing sleep and he is crying out to God. &n...
Psalm 23 - We are sheep. by David Burgess (HOST)

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.  He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. ...
The Act of Servanthood - How we should act! by David Burgess

John 13: 1-5 This is a wonderful passage of the Bible, one full of quite a lot of information for our lives.  It starts out describing the scene of Jesus with His disciples in the upper room.  One thing to note is that Jesus knew what was coming next and really felt for His disciples.  “Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto his Father, having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them unt...
Foolishness of Man by David Burgess
Created: 7/5/2005 at: 6:00 AM
"For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight..."  1 Corinthians 3:19 (NIV).   I read an article in the Patriot-news today (Tuesday July 5, 2005) and it struck me how foolish we must look to God.  The articles was about the probe that was just landed (or crashed into) a comet.  The quote that really struck me as foolish was the reason that we spent so much money (billions I am sure) sending this probe to crash on a comet.   Here is is:   "A giant...
Study of Mark 6 by David Burgess
Created: 6/15/2005 at: 3:57 AM
Verses 1 - 5This is an interesting section of Mark.  In here we see Jesus has returned to His home town, He is teaching in the synagogue and the people are astonished by what he is saying and doing amoung them and yet they can not get past the fact that he grew up with them.  They figured that the Christ or a prophet should not grow up as other people had, but somehow be different, maybe just appearing as an adult and working from there.  They really had a problem with the fact th...

Pray for the pursecuted church by host

Here in the United States of America we often take our religious freedom for granted.  It probably won't be like that all the time, but for now we can pretty much come and go as we please, to church, to prayer meeting, to small groups, whatever.

This is not the case everywhere.  There are some countries where Christians particularly are beaten up, kidnapped, tortured or even killed.  We need to remember these brothers and sisters in prayer!  When we are going to that small group, bible study or prayer meeting, let's remember these brothers and sisters in Christ!

Let's pray for Gods comfort and peace!  Let's pray for the salvation of the captors or people who are causing such pain!  Let's pray for the families of these brothers and sisters, and let's pray for them!

Lord be with all of your children around the world.  Send peace to those in trials and surround them with love.  May we be able to help them in some small way!  Lord bless these brothers and sisters, bless their family and friends and bless all those who are helping.  Lord may they stand strong in persecution and may they continue to proclaim you to all those who persecute them.  May your name be praised and may all those who persecute these brothers and sisters see you through them. Lord come quickly!  Amen!

Pray for the President of the USA by dpburgess

We need to continually lift our President up in prayer.  We need to pray for a number of things:

  • Pray that President Bush continues to look towards Christ Jesus as his strength.
  • Pray that President Bush continues to try to do God's will and that God will reveal his will to President Bush.
  • Pray for health and safety for President Bush and all of his family.
  • Pray that he will always stand for moral values and not bend to worldly presasures.

As we continue to lift up our president let's not forget that he is in a very tough position.  let's also try to pray that we will always lift him up in our thoughts and words and deeds.  We all need strength to stand with our President in doing God's will.
